Join us for the Dogwood blossoms in Quincy this spring. We have a fun-filled weekend in the works. The first weekend in May is the time for Quincy's annual Dogwood Festival and we'll be a part of the activities. In addition to the festival, we will tour Mark Twain's hometown - Hannibal, Missouri. This 20 mile trip down the Great River Road will take us to the Mark Twain Cave, a riverboat cruise, museums and antique shops. Upon arriving back in Quincy Friday evening, our welcoming banquet will take place at the Villa Katherine - a Moorish castle overlooking the Mississippi River. The castle is located within walking distance of the motel (about 2 blocks).
Saturday morning, for those who wish to participate, we are invited to be a part of the annual Dogwood Parade down Maine Street in Quincy. This parade is viewed by more than 10,000 people along the 2-mile route, as well as a local television audience. The route goes through the heart of Quincy's historic district and typically features about 125-150 units. After the parade, we'll head down to Clat Adams Park on the riverfront for the show and judging. A light lunch will be provided to show participants after the parade.
Our convention motel will be the America's Best Value Inn. This motel and restaurant have been extensively remodeled in the last year and provides a central location at a reasonable price for our schedule of events. The cost for rooms is just $73 a night (all taxes included), but this price is only good through April 4. Our Saturday evening awards banquet will be held at the Inn and will feature a dinner buffet.
For those not driving their K-F cars to Quincy, trailer parking will be available across the street from the motel at the Oakley-Lindsay Convention Center.
Attention Darrin Owners: I have already been contacted be several Darrin owners who are planning on bringing their cars to this meet. At one time, there were at least 5 Darrins in this area - only mine remains. I'd love to have 5 or 6 (or more) Darrins at this show in addition to all of the fantastic Kaisers, Frazers and Willy's automobiles.
